Every Monday

Ø  The Coach House will feature Italian Night every Monday until 8 p.m. with our famous homemade lasagna, spaghetti & meatballs, Shrimp Piccata, Chicken Marsala, Eggplant Parmesan, and various other homemade pasta dishes along with Italian soups and salads and fresh garlic bread. Tiamo is our featured Italian wine and we will be serving their Chianti and Pinot Grigio by the glass or the bottle.

Ø  Kelly’s Gingernut Pub is now offering Prime Rib Night every Monday: a 12 oz. Boneless Prime Rib au jus, served with mashed potatoes and vegetable of day for $17.

Ø  5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - The Salt Marsh Sangha, a mindfulness community practicing in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh (author of Living Buddha, Living Christ), meets weekly. We practice sitting and walking meditation and engage in mindful discussion related to everyday life experience. Everyone is welcomed and no prior meditation experience necessary. Donations are appreciated, but not required. Our new meeting place is the Fray Building of the Franktown United Methodist Church. Please arrive a few minutes early to get settled. The church is on the Bayside Road on the south end of Franktown: 7751 Bayside Road. The entrance to the church parking area is on the north side of the church. The Fray building is on the south side and towards the back of the church. Drive around behind the church to park close to the building.

Ø  9 a.m. - Emmanuel Episcopal celebrates Holy Eucharist with the Rev. Bob Coniglio. Coffee hour follows the worship service. All are welcome to worship and fellowship in this all-inclusive church.

6:30 p.m. - The Nehemiah Mentoring Project is sponsoring an African and African American set of history classes at First Baptist Church in Cape Charles. Each set of classes will last 4 to 5 weeks, maybe longer depending of the flow of content. After this first set of classes is completed, the same classes will be given at another location, preferably a church. We would like the entire community to have an opportunity to share with us, this historical delight. Tuesday, March 18

5 p.m. - Ecological Reflections Art Show and Lecture Reflections Exhibit showcases Area Art Teachers’ talents. Art Schwarzchild, site director for University of Virginia Anheuser Busch Coastal Research Center, and visiting artist Alice McEnerney Cook  will speak at the BIC followed immediately by an art exhibit opening reception in the front room at the Barrier Islands Center. Artist-in residence Alice McEnerney Cook’s paintings will be for sale. The lecture will focus on the basic ecology of the local salt marshes and tidal creeks and discuss the development of a three- day class for art teachers this past fall. The for-credit class provided local and regional art teachers an opportunity to learn and practice the techniques used in plein air painting, along with an introduction to the ecology and environmental issues impacting salt marshes. As an extension of the workshop, the art teachers will exhibit their seaside plein-air paintings that they created during the class at the Barrier Islands Center through the end of March.
